Today I hung out with the local high school choir director to get some vocal coaching. It was an awesome time. He actually has a background in church music and worship leading. When he talked about the goal we’d be shooting for in terms of getting a clear tone that people can follow on Sunday it was exactly what I was looking for. He gave me some goofy stuff to try out and we’re getting together next week. I’m excited. I feel like my voice is decent, but that God deserves the best I can offer.

So cool Billy! Keep us informed. Did you approach this teacher or were you already acquainted? I’d like to hear more about that “goofy stuff” and how you apply the advice he gives with your team.
Cosima,
Actually he is the choir director for my Pastors’ son’s school choir. He took me back to the basics - stuff I was forgetting like breath support and not raising my chin. I actually thought I was improving in these areas but with his coaching I sounded WAY better.
I’ll be singing in the mirror more often and you might find me singing with something tied around my waist to check my breath support.
That’s cool bro. Keep us posted. I’ll keep you posted on my guitar lessons. My rhythm got a lot better this week. I’ve been out of music for years because of church baggage, but it’s all coming back to me now.
I can’t wait to hear ya. Sometime soon, you’ll hafta put a clip from the worship set in your WC video. (I know, I know…I’m never satisfied… :P)
Daniel,
Awesome. Yeah rhythm and timing are the most important. It doesn’t really matter how fancy you can play if you can’t keep the beat. The metronome is your best friend there.
Sarah,
I know your never satisfied. That’s why I married you
billy, That’s great. Keep going on those voice lessons. I was taking them for a little while but, now because of work I can’t.
